FrothFrame
In developmentThe photo frame you can text.
A 10.1-inch digital photo frame with a matte black bezel and a 2.5K 16:10 display. Anyone you approve can send photos straight to it with a text message. No app, no account.
FrothFrame is not shipping yet. Hardware is in engineering validation and the firmware is being finalized. Register interest and we will let you know when units are available.
Sharing
Three steps. None of them involve an app.
FrothFrame was designed for the people who usually get left out of photo sharing: the relatives who never installed the app and never will.
01Approve a sender
Add a phone number from the frame's settings. Anyone not on the list is silently ignored.
02They text a photo
From any phone, on any carrier. No app to install, no account to create, nothing to explain.
03It appears on the frame
Delivered with end-to-end encryption and shown within seconds, in full 2.5K clarity.
Under the hood
From a text message to the glass.
The whole path is ours: the gateway that receives the message, the pipeline that prepares the photo, the firmware that shows it, and the updates that keep it working.
- 01Gateway
Inbound SMS and MMS
Messages arrive at our gateway, where the sender is checked against the frame's allowlist before anything is stored. Unknown numbers are dropped, not bounced.
- 02Pipeline
Normalize and encrypt
Photos are re-encoded for the 2560 × 1600 panel, stripped of location metadata, and encrypted with a key that only the destination frame holds.
- 03Firmware
A small Linux image we build ourselves
The quad-core ARM board runs a minimal, signed image with just the display service and the sync client. No browser, no app store, no surprises.
- 04Updates
Atomic over-the-air updates
Frames pull updates over an authenticated channel and switch partitions only after the new image verifies. A bad update rolls back on its own.
Features
Everything a frame should do. Nothing it should not.
Built around the photos, the people sending them, and the room the frame lives in.
Share by text message
Approved contacts text a photo to the frame's number and it appears within seconds. No downloads, no sign-ups, no help desk calls.
2.5K, 16:10 display
A 2560 × 1600 IPS panel sized for real photos. Landscape and portrait shots both show with minimal cropping.
Matte black bezel
A slim aluminum frame with an anti-glare glass face. It reads as a picture frame first and a screen second.
Private by design
Photos are encrypted end to end. You decide exactly who can send to the frame, and you can remove anyone at any time.
Cloud sync
Add a second frame in another home and it stays in step. Grandparents see the same album at the same time.
Ambient modes
When it is not showing photos, FrothFrame becomes a quiet clock, a weather glance, or a piece of ambient art.
Adaptive brightness
An ambient light sensor keeps the display matched to the room, from bright afternoons to late evenings.
Portable
A built-in battery gives up to four hours unplugged, so the frame can move from the kitchen to the porch.
Presence
Designed to enhance a room, not interrupt it.
The matte bezel and anti-glare glass keep FrothFrame looking like a picture frame from across the room. Up close, the 2.5K panel shows every detail.
